To Outsource or Hire Internally?
When it comes to your organization’s transactional processing needs, how do you decide whether to outsource or to hire internal staff? Here are a few thoughts to help you as you weigh your options:
Dedication. An internal hire will be completely dedicated to only your organization. The staff at an outsourcing organization shares its focus among several clients.
Cost. However, can you actually afford to hire the expertise your organization needs? If an outsourcing organization hires someone, the cost is shared among the clients. However, you alone will pay for a dedicated staff person.
Checks and balances. An outsourcing organization can provide multiple sets of eyes on the same transaction. Errors are more likely to be caught and integrity maintained. Internal staff may be able to provide the same protection if a plan is in place for departments to work together.
These are just a few thoughts to help begin a conversation about what may best serve your organization. Also, keep in mind that at least one internal staff person is needed as a bridge or liaison between your organization and your transactional outsourcer.
